ABSTRACT SUBMISSION
Participants who intend to present voluntary papers or posters should submit their abstracts to the Scientific Secretariat before 31st May 2008.
Abstracts received after this date and not responding to the “presentation guidelines” will not be accepted.
Abstracts will be examined by the Scientific Committee. The Scientific Secretariat will give confirmation of abstract acceptance and its form of presentation (paper/poster) before 31th July 2008.
Each Author may appear in two papers at most.
Submission of papers depends on payment of the registration fee. In case of papers with several authors, payment of at least one fee is requested.
Publication of accepted papers and posters is planned. Authors who will receive confirmation of abstract acceptance should submit the complete text before 15th September 2008.
PRESENTATION GUIDELINES
Guidelines for abstract presentation
Abstract length should not exceed one page of text and should clearly explain objectives and methods.
Abstract should not exceed 3500 words (including spaces) and should not contain figures, photos, graphics, tables or references.
Abstract must respect the following styles and formats: Times new Roman12 point; single line spaced; first line recess 0.5 cm; left and right justified.

Guidelines for oral presentation
Oral
presentations of accepted papers should not exceed 10 minutes.
Guidelines
for poster papers
Posters should measure 70 cm in width and 100 cm in height.
Posters
should contain: Authors, Title, Affiliation, complete address including e-mail,
and the session to which the poster refers.
Posters
should be easily readable from a distance of 2 meters minimum.
Style should
be simple and brief.
It is
recommended to use the Times new Roman font, point size over 16, for the text
(22 font size for the title), using only one type of style (without using bold,
semi-bold… typeface).
It is also
recommended to use primary colors (red, green, blue…) for the text, leaving
complementary colors for background and illustrations.
Figures,
photos, graphics, tables and bibliographical references can be inserted.
Authors
should also submit a written paper for publishing, following the “guidelines
for proceedings” here below.
Posters can
be directly shipped to the Congress from authors before the opening ceremony,
or sent by mail if previous arrangements are made with the Scientific
Secretariat. In case of mailing, posters should be sent rolled up, with
appropriate protection to guarantee their safety during shipment.
Authors are kindly
invited to attend the poster session to answer questions.
Guidelines
for proceedings
Papers (both
related to oral presentations or to posters) should not exceed 5 pages in length
(about 17,500 words including spaces) not including figures,
photos, graphics, tables and references.
Papers
should contain:
- Authors: for each author specify name, title, affiliation, complete address (including e-mail and telephone).
- Title: title should be clear and short and written also in English and French. Recurring title should not exceed 65 words including spaces.
- Keywords: indicate 3 to 5 keywords also in English and French.
- Summary: summary should not exceed 250 words and should clearly reflect objectives, methods and conclusions of thepaper. Summary must also be submitted in English and French.
Papers
should be submitted using a .doc format with the program Word for Windows.
In case of
more than one author, please specify the contact author.
It is
recommended to follow the International System of Units (SI) and to refer to
IUFRO standards for forest
terminology.
Scientific
names and foreign words should be written in italic.
Use
the following styles and formats:
- Margins: 2.5 cm from the upper side, 2 cm from other sides.
- Times new Roman 12 points.
- Paragraph:
Single line spaced; first line recess 0.5 cm; left and right justified.
Numbering of
paragraphs should follow the decimal system (1.–; 1.1.–;
1.1.1.–; 1.1.2.–). Paragraphs headings should be written in lower
case letter (except for the first letter).
Up
to six figures, black and white photos, graphics and tables may be accepted. They
should be sent in separate files without a legend. Legends should be submitted
in a separate doc file or written in the same file, at the end of the paper.
- Figures - please send figures both in paper and electronic format (.tiff,.jpg or .eps). Resolution must be 600-1200 dpi.
- Photos: please send photos both in paper and electronic format (.tiff, .jpg or .eps). Resolution must be 300 dpi.
- Graphics: please send graphics in .eps format. Lines should not be larger than 0.25 pts and at least 10% halftone screen.
- Tables: please send tables in .doc format.
Bibliographical quotes should be written in brackets, using the author-date system, i.e. (Ciancio, 2005) or (Ciancio et al., 2005).
